if i make a list the night before a day off or a day where i don’t work until the afternoon there’s like an 89% chance that I’ll have a pretty swell day. if i’m able to check things off the list while listening to good music the whole time, i’m in a generally less pissy, happy mood.

If i don’t make a list or have goals for my day, i’ll have a crap day almost guaranteed. today i woke up at 7:30am (i don’t have to work until 4pm!), dropped my car off at the shop to have it inspected and the oil changed, then got my bike out of the back (I still LOVE the fact that my bike fits in the back of my car :) ) and rode 5 miles to a quaint little coffee shop that’s been on my list of places to go. I journaled for like an hour and i’m applying to another college and getting stuff done. yaaa.

i just really need structured free time almost all of the time or i will melt. checking things off lists and completing tasks is so so so satisfying.

What do I want???

That thought just struck me. This whole past year has been a year of me probing friends, family, God, strangers I meet at work, coworkers, and pretty much anyone who can talk for an answer to the question of what’s the best “next step” for me to take in my life. Stay in my hometown for a couple more years and finish school? Move to Chicago and finish school? Stay out of school until I know what I am doing? I am a very strong-willed and pretty driven person, so this past year not knowing exactly what I want has been very debilitating and somewhat uncharacteristic of me. After an hour long conversation with one of my sisters, this question came to my mind: with all outside opinion, input, influence, and factors aside, what do I want? I no longer know because I’ve been so focused on what other people think I should want. I must figure this out.

I’m seeing these two adorable human beings tomorrow. I last saw them in 2009 and they haven’t been back here since. Seriously overdue.

67 days until I see these guys. I remember when I was 12 or 13 my oldest brother got a KoC CD for Christmas and I thought it was a funny band name. Then I started listening to them at the beginning of high school (or so? That’s like 7 years ago…man) and now I’m seeing them in freaking Spain. This is just one reason why music is so fun… so many mile markers related to each band, album, song, etc.

I have approximately a lot of cities that I’m tracking on Songkick because of my trip, so I added Milan today… And Atoms for Peace is playing there on July 17. Just so happens I might be in the neighborhood from the 15-18…. I just asked my sister if she’d be down… That would be AWESOME.

One month from today I’m leaving for Spain. Two months from today I’ll be leaving Spain to go to Italy for a couple days…then to Barcelona and Amsterdam. WWWHEWWWY

(P.S. Looks like I probably won’t be able to go to London unless I go there by myself… which I’m not exactly anxious to do… traveling by myself doesn’t really seem all that wonderful to me…)

It seems more mellowed out/not as intense as some of their other albums. Matt doesn’t scream in any songs. Seems like a surrendering/I give up/I’m drained kinda album. Or maybe that’s just my personal projection, hahah.
